2022 Subaru Outback near Rio Rancho NM Releases Wilderness Edition
The Subaru Outback is already the most capable vehicle in the Subaru lineup in terms of getting off-road, and now the company has debuted the even more capable, more rugged 2022 Outback Wilderness Edition. Look for it in showrooms this summer, with a price tag of $36,995, which doesn't include destination fees.

With the ultimate goal being better off-road chops, the Wilderness Edition is half family hauler and half sport-utility vehicle, with the emphasis on sport! Besides the addition of the Wilderness trim, the much-loved Outback only receives a few changes this model year, having been fully redesigned for the 2020 model year.
Still boasting its AWD capabilities, the 2022 Subaru Outback near Rio Rancho started the new model year with a more upmarket design. A larger air intake, sharp headlights, and a trapezoidal grill are fundamental features the Outback has in common with other Subaru models. More body cladding, fender flares, and a heftier rear fascia up the SUV factor for the Outback.
The Wilderness Edition has the most modifications of all the trims, beginning with a suspension lift for more ground clearance at 9.5 inches compared to the regular 8.7 inches. The suspension has also been retuned for more stability in rough territory, while preserving the comfort and performance you enjoy when you're back on the pavement.
Reworked front (with skid plate!) and rear bumpers, combined with the increased ground clearance make for improved approach, break-over (what kind of hill the two axles can straddle), and departure angles when you take the 2022 Outback Wilderness off-road, which means more challenging overland adventures for you. Beefier, Yokohama Geolandar® all-terrain tires (including a full-size spare!) with exclusive new 17-inch rims have also been included on the Wilderness Edition.
The Wilderness Edition has even more rugged body cladding than the standard Outback, under the doors and extended over the wheel wells. All Outback models come equipped with roof rails, but the Wilderness gets an updated, more substantial one, that's able to carry up to 700 pounds, which can easily support a rooftop tent. Anodized copper accents indicate beneficial points such as roof rail tie down spots and tow hook anchors.
Under the hood of the lower trims are powerful engines, which help the Outback keep pace with V6 driven competitors like the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Honda Passport.
2022 Subaru Outback near Rio Rancho NM: Interior
Even though the Outback is considered a midsize vehicle, it has a very roomy cabin. Large windows and unobtrusive pillars make visibility top notch, and there's plenty of headroom and legroom in both front and rear seats.

Subaru's excellent StarTex water repellent seat fabric covers all the seats in the Wilderness, even the backs of the rear seats, which means they're protected when folded flat. The steering wheel, gauge cluster details, and shift knob sport the same anodized copper accenting as seen on the exterior, and copper-colored stitching can be found throughout the cabin.
A spacious cargo area is one of the best things about the 2022 Subaru Outback near Rio Rancho NM and the Wilderness trim is no different. It has a marginally higher load area because of the extra lift, and gets extra protection from a waterproof rear cargo tray so you can throw wet gear, tents, and muddy boots in the back without worry.
If you love the outdoors or want to become more outdoorsy, the Subaru Outback is hard to beat. With tons of cargo space, a comfortable ride, and full-time AWD it can take you further than basic crossovers and SUVs just can't.
