Try the seven-mile stretch of old-style, New Mexican charm of the Corrales Road Scenic Byway. Either hike to a primitive one or soak in a developed hot spring in an outdoor setting.  Spence Hot Springs, near Jemez Springs is undeveloped except for the formation of rock pools. It's in a pretty location that feels further than the quarter-mile it is from the highway. The water at Giggling Springs resort comes from ancient, mineral-rich seawater that got trapped inland. Temperatures at Giggling Springs range from 102˚ to 105˚ F. With the background sounds of the Jemez River gushing by, it's easy to kick back in one of the floating chairs and forget about the world for a while. When you're ready, your Subaru will get you there and back in comfort.
