Updated Tech and a Fresh Face in Store for the 2023 Subaru Outback near Rio Rancho NM

If you thought minivans were a dying breed in the US, just think about how few wagons are currently on the market. You won't find many, although a handful of brands have kept a wagon in their lineup. Subaru is one such company, and its iconic Outback wagon was introduced in 1995. The family-friendly Outback has been hauling people, pets, and their gear for decades with 8.6 inches of ground clearance and full-time AWD and doesn't appear to be stopping any time soon!

Changes to the 2023 Subaru Outback near Rio Rancho NM include upgraded infotainment software, improvements to an already impressive suite of safety technology, and minor exterior styling tweaks. America's top-selling wagon just became even better! Let's take a look at the changes.
What's New for the 2023 Exterior?

Six trim levels will be offered, moving up from Base, Premium, Onyx Edition, Wilderness, Limited, and Touring. The brand-new, ramped-up Wilderness Edition just launched for the 2022 model year as a more off-road-ready version straight from the factory, so its refreshes are almost non-existent. All trims except the Wilderness received a larger grille, revamped LED steering-responsive headlights and LED fog lights, and a wider front bumper. More cladding was added to match the overall bolder styling, which now runs below the headlights, around the lower front fascia, and edges the rocker panels and wheel arches.
The more hardcore Wilderness Edition already came with loads of black exterior cladding all over. It has a rugged black bumper accented with copper-colored tow hook covers, an exclusive black grille design, and larger, all-terrain tires.

With a wide body, the Outback provides generous interior space and has room for five adults to fit comfortably, yes, even in the rear seats! Standard upholstery is cloth, but higher trims get Subaru's StarTex water-resistant fabric, and top-tier trims boast leather upholstery.
As for cargo space, you'll get 33 cubic feet with the rear seats folded- much more than the Volvo V60 Cross Country, another available (and pricier!) station wagon model.
Safety and Technology
All Outback models come equipped with Subaru's excellent EyeSight Driver-Assist system as standard, with updated control software, a wider field of view, and an electric brake booster. The top-tier Touring model adds a Wide-Angle Mono Camera that will detect bicycles and pedestrians sooner and gets an LCD Smart Rearview Mirror.
Dual 7-inch displays are standard in the 2023 Outback. The top screen handles audio controls, and the bottom display runs safety and climate settings. The newest version of the StarLink infotainment system comes with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Bluetooth, satellite radio, voice controls, and more. Usability for audio, HVAC, X-Mode, and other features has been improved.
The 2023 Subaru Outback near Rio Rancho, NM is available with an 11.6-inch touchscreen that features wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, satellite radio, HD radio, Bluetooth, over-the-air updates, and more. Additionally, there's a new navigation feature called what3words (W3W). This system has divided the world into a grid of 10x10-foot squares, with each square identified by a unique combination of three words: its W3W address.
Under the Hood
Engine choices will remain the same, although the Onyx Edition will be available for both options, not just the more powerful turbocharged version. The base engine is a naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter flat-four that delivers up to 182-hp and 176 lb-ft of torque. If XT models are offered, they and the Wilderness will come standard with the 2.4-liter turbocharged unit, producing 260 hp and 277 lb-ft of twist. All engines send power to Subaru's symmetrical AWD through a continuously variable transmission.
