The new engine has expanded from a 2.0 to a 2.4-liter flat-four and delivers 271 horsepower with 258 lb-ft of torque. This larger displacement should supply a broader torque curve.

Thankfully, Subaru decided to keep the 6-speed manual for the new WRX, as expected. The challenge for sticking with the manual was that it isn't compatible with Subaru's EyeSight, the driver-assist safety technology. The company finally resolved the issue by simply not offering EyeSight on the manual models. 

The other transmission option is what Subaru calls the "Subaru Performance Transmission." This is essentially an improved and sport-tuned version of Subaru's CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), which isn't an enthusiast favorite. It does, however, offer an 8-speed manual mode with paddle shifters. 

New GT Trim 

Despite the stick argument, Subaru wants to change the minds of enthusiasts and convert them into fans of the CVT. How? Outside and Inside the WRX

The exterior gets clean, athletic lines, and flared fenders that reference the rally blood of the WRX. The same goes for the rear-end, where freshly designed taillights accentuate the WRX's updated styling.
