The 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness near Santa Fe NM is Wilderness Ready!

Unlike lots of SUV owners who never, or rarely, venture off the pavement, Subaru Outback owners actually do take their vehicles off-roading. And some owners are so into it that they adjust their rides by adding more rugged equipment to make their adventures even better. So, to make it easier than ever to get off the beaten path, the company decided to introduce a more capable off-road package straight from the factory with the 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness near Santa Fe NM.

Functionality
Taking a cue from their customers, Subaru raised the front and rear suspension nearly an inch by changing out the regular springs and dampers for taller ones. The more aggressive Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tires on this trim enhance the taller stance of the Outback, and help with traction, thus delivering more fun when you get off the blacktop. Just these small changes boost the ground clearance of the Outback Wilderness up to 9.5-inches, which is almost the same as more "serious" SUVs like the Toyota 4Runner, and more than the Toyota RAV4 TRD Off-Road, Ford Bronco Sport, and Jeep Cherokee.

The higher ride height of the 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness near Santa Fe NM improves its approach, departure, and breakover (what kind of hill the two axles can straddle) angles as well. Additionally, the suspension was re-tuned to balance out the increased height, and the ratios for the transfer gears and rear differential reduction have also been revised. According to Subaru, the new gearing will help the Outback Wilderness climb a gravel surface with a 40% grade.
Like the high end XT trims, the Wilderness edition comes standard equipped with a powerful turbocharged 2.4 liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 260 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. It's paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with "8-speed" manual-shift capability and a pressure sensor that controls accuracy at low speeds. A version of the dual-function X-Mode AWD system, altered exclusively for the Outback Wilderness, lets the wagon automatically switch from low-speed managed drive settings like Deep Snow or Mud to the normal or high-speed driving mode.

Thanks to exclusive styling elements, the Wilderness edition distinguishes itself from its sibling Outbacks. A new grille, front skid plate, heavier matte-black cladding, wider fender flares, and recessed hex-style LED fog lights (less likely to get damaged while off-roading) lend a more rugged look. On the hood is an anti-glare matte black stripe, and window moldings are also blacked out.
The body cladding over the fenders is larger than normal, with a noticeable lip that offers more protection from bumps and scrapes while off-roading. There are Wilderness badges near the front doors and on the lift gate, and the rear fascia sports beefier cladding as well. The 17-inch alloy wheels receive the blackout treatment too, including the full-size spare!
Another exclusive feature on the 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness near Santa Fe NM is the fixed ladder-type roof rack that can support a 700-pound load while parked and a 220-pound load when moving. This new load rating is enough to take on a rooftop tent and two average-sized adults. Tie-down points on the roof rack and tow-hook covers on the front and rear are marked by copper colored covers that complement the overall look.
Moving inside, there are matching copper accents on the shift lever and steering wheel, and the contrast stitching is the same copper color too. Heavy duty floor mats, aluminum pedals, and water repellant, cleanable  StarTex fabric covers all seating surfaces. Even the back of the rear seat is covered with it to increase protection.
The Outback Wilderness comes with almost everything you could want as standard and the only options left include a sunroof, a power liftgate and a power moonroof. Expanded accessories will be offered for the Wilderness Edition, which includes a full set of skid plates.
Orders are being taken now, so don't get left behind! If you want one of these awesome new Outbacks, come on over to Fiesta Subaru at 8100 Lomas Blvd in Albuquerque today!
