An Electric Subaru in Albuquerque NM is in the Works

Just like nearly every other mainstream automaker has done, or is doing, an electric Subaru in Albuquerque NM is in the works. Details are sparse, but the vehicle will reportedly debut sometime in the early 2020s. It was also confirmed that the EV will first launch in Europe.

In a statement released on December 14, 2020, Subaru said its first electric vehicle will be a "mid-size SUV, similar in size to the Subaru Forester." Additionally, the company stated it will be "built on a platform shared with Toyota."
While more details are to be released next year, Subaru did say that the new EV emphasizes Subaru's efforts to "reduce its environmental footprint in Europe and to satisfy a growing demand for alternative powertrains." The manufacturer also said the electric crossover SUV will add to their electrification endeavors, which have so far resulted in the European launch of mild hybrid versions of the Impreza, Forester, and XV (Crosstrek in US). This will be Subaru's first venture into mass production of a car that uses absolutely no gasoline, which is a necessary shift as more and more countries ban the sale of internal combustion cars in the years to come.
Since both Toyota and Lexus recently announced their own upcoming electric vehicles, it's probably safe to assume that the electric Subaru in Albuquerque NM will share much of what's going on with those models. (Remember, Toyota and Subaru have been working together on developing an all-new electric architecture since the summer of 2019.)
Electric Subaru in Albuquerque NM: Evoltis
Although Subaru hasn't shared more information, the future EV could be called the Evoltis, a name that's been thrown around for a while now. This has yet to be confirmed, but we do know that it will ride on a platform shared with Toyota. The platform is Toyota's e-TNGA modular architecture, designed specifically for EVs, which can accommodate different sized batteries and vehicles. It can even be used for front, rear, or all-wheel drive configurations.
All wheel drive is guaranteed, after all, this is a Subaru we're talking about. And Subaru's trademark is AWD in every vehicle except the BRZ. Not only that, but a camouflaged Lexus also EV with Direct4 all-wheel drive was spotted being previewed by Lexus UK.  And just like the Toyota and Lexus EVs, the electric Subaru in Albuquerque NM will utilize a newer Direct4 electric drive control system that's able to control torque delivery between the front and rear electric motors along with braking at all four corners. Supposedly, the Lexus edition will churn out a combined 402 horsepower and 422 lb-ft of torque, but it's doubtful the Subaru will get the same impressive high output.
While the actual production cars are usually much tamer looking than the concept vehicles, the new electric Subaru in Albuquerque NM could still receive an eye-catching design, which would help it stand out from the rest of the lineup and showcase its special features.
