2022 Subaru WRX in Albuquerque NM Expected to Launch Mid 2021
Riding on the new Subaru Global
Platform which provides higher rigidity and less weight, the totally
redesigned, next-generation 2022 Subaru WRX in Albuquerque NM is expected to launch in the fall of 2021.

Since
the last generation Subaru WRX debuted in 2014, devotees thought the
newest model would appear sometime around now, but a global pandemic
stopped that thought right in its tracks. With production (sort of)
back on schedule and coronavirus precautions in place, the sport-tuned
next generation WRX should be here in about a year.
The
company hasn't released much information about the new WRX, but reports
indicate that it'll most likely have some form of Subaru's FA24
turbocharged 2.4 liter 4-cylinder under the hood. This flat-four mill
powers the Subaru Ascent with 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque.
The current WRX is rated at 268 hp and 258 lb-ft torque, so the 2022
model will likely produce more than 260 hp. And, in keeping with what
enthusiasts like, the 2022 Subaru WRX in Albuquerque NM should still be
offered with a choice of a six-speed manual or a CVT (continuously
variable automatic transmission). Naturally, all-wheel drive will come
standard in the WRX.
2022 Subaru WRX in Albuquerque NM Sighting
Car
and Driver recently reported spotting a camouflaged 2022 WRX undergoing
testing in the US before the 2021 debut. From the photos it looks as
though the redesigned WRX will keep its characteristic features which
include the wide hood scoop, a small rear spoiler, quad exhaust tips,
and big fenders. Not much more can be ascertained from the photos.

Judging
by details Subaru released about the Subaru Levorg (overseas model) we
can guess that the WRX may have similar revisions. These could include a
redesigned cabin with a digital cockpit and a bigger, tablet-style
center touchscreen. The previous hard buttons will be gone, giving way
for the newer multi-media interface the offers Apple CarPlay/Android
Auto integration. Knobs for tuning and volume will remain. A 12.3 inch
LCD driver display and upgraded front seats are new in the Levorg, so
chances are the WRX will get the same.
The
2022 Subaru WRX in Albuquerque NM with the CVT will include the
new-generation EyeSight® suite of safety features. The improved EyeSight
provides 360 degree sensing by uniting the front and back radar, and
uses high-precision 3D map information with road data from each lane of
traffic. This feature feeds Subaru's goal of zero driving fatalities
with the new system by 2030.
An
often heard customer criticism of the WRX is that the quality of the
interior doesn't match up to segment rivals. The company aims to correct
this by using higher quality materials all through the cabin. Subaru
states there's now more rear knee/foot room (thanks to the Global
Platform underpinnings) and more comfort in the rear seats themselves.
Another
modification for the 2022 Subaru WRX in Albuquerque NM (if it follows
the Levorg restyling) is the missing hand brake that's been replaced
with an electronic brake located behind the gear shift. Also, a new
chrome accent trim runs the length of the dashboard, and the AC vents
have been repositioned. The storage bin console is pushed forward with
two cup holders directly in front of it.
Until
Subaru of America makes more information public, this is about all we
can gather about the new WRX. You can bet here at Fiesta Subaru we're
excited for the debut of the 2022 Subaru WRX!
